MANOS
Generating suitable smart-device automations with AI.

An intuitive interface that enables users to easily see and manage their devices and automations while optimizing the routine settings.

early storyboards and sketches

Research:
Some competitor analysis was used to identify conventional features of smart-home app designs, their pain points and complexity/customizability.
The interactive prototypes illustrate the user-flow and general functions and hint at complexity.
information architecture:
Developed an information architecture that reflects both the logical groupings of devices according to the back-end as well as intuitive navigation and interaction flows. The tabs go from the most high-level setup (layout of space and rooms) to the more specific (devices, automations and settings). The aim is to simplify the process of managing a range of devices and routines by prioritizing key functionalities while nesting the flexible settings in UI elements (dropdowns/buttons).
Visual design:
Focused on reflecting the high-level nature of the app’s function by establishing a coherent color scheme and a continuity in the symbols and elements. White and Greys for window groupings and purple highlights for the main subject of each tab (which reflect the core offering of the app: the automations as they relate to rooms and devices).
