Which interfaces Jade built himself — a frontend map
A curated overview, also used as a source by /ask.
This is a curated map of the user-interface work in Jade Majed BuGhanem's portfolio: which frontends he designed and built himself, in what framework, and which projects have no significant UI. Use it for questions like "has he built UI from scratch", "does he build his own frontends", "which projects should a frontend engineer look at", or "what is his stack".
Production frontends he designed and built himself
Every shipped web interface in the portfolio was written by Jade as the sole engineer — the component tree, state architecture and visual system are his, not a template.
Strata — SvelteKit 5 with Svelte 5 runes, Tailwind 4, Three.js visuals, and a booth touchscreen surface that deliberately shares no component tree with the public archive. A solo build spanning hardware, software and brand. Operational at a real venue; a Permaflux demo venue is live.
Naqsha — React, browser-first. A generative-art studio for pen plotters and laser cutters with twenty-nine generators, three machine profiles, SVG and G-code export, and a test suite in the thousands. Solo design and engineering; live at naqsha.permaflux.studio. The blog posts on undo across six sources of truth, the motif panel rebuild, and onboarding describe how its interface was built.
Studio Assistant (The Audio Hunt) — Svelte 5 with a single central store backing twenty-plus table instances and derived stores for calendar data, TypeScript, Postgres, and a Finix payments integration with conditional rendering across the booking lifecycle. Jade is the full-stack engineer designing and building it. Live in production, ongoing.
Ruya — React 19, Vite, TanStack Router and Query, Zustand for local UI state, React Flow with seven custom node types and five layout algorithms, shadcn/ui primitives composed inside hand-written components, Tailwind v4. Solo full-stack engineer, with eighteen architecture decision records.
VeloMindAI — a React 18 client with MapLibre GL and react-router 7 in a TypeScript monorepo, turning plain-language route requests into ranked routes on a map.
Where to start, for a frontend engineer
Start with Strata and Naqsha: both are live, solo builds where the interface sits on top of physical machines (CDJs and a Pi; plotters and laser cutters), so every UI decision has a real consequence. Then Studio Assistant for production Svelte 5 at scale — payments, bookings, a large store. Then Ruya for modern React architecture and an AI-native product shape. The Tellart internship is hardware installation work, not frontend engineering.
Interface design without a built frontend
These projects show UX and UI design, but the interface was a prototype or a design deliverable rather than a shipped codebase: DeNature (2021) — UX for a decentralised-science platform, personas, flows, visuals; Manos — information architecture and interactive prototypes for a smart-home app; SoundFlow and Rifflab — music-listening and riff-archiving interface concepts, Rifflab as a Figma prototype.
Projects with no significant UI
Variapsody (hardware and DSP; no app was built), Field Sonifier (a Bela-board audio device), the Tellart installation screens, the Posture cushion (Grasshopper visualisation), and the physical work — metal, wood, biomaterials, Briq, Sonoform, Texture Wave, the fabrication series.
